Parenting Education Program

Our Parent Education Program is a psycho-educational course that provides relevant material regarding the impact of family restructuring on children. 

This mandatory course is approved for parents with children under the age of 18, who have entered into a legal custody or visitation agreement following a divorce, civil union, or annulment through court proceedings in Superior Court for Family Matters.

Courses are six (6) hours in length and include:

  • Information on the developmental stages of children
  • Adjustment of children to parental separation
  • Dispute resolution and conflict management
  • The impact of family violence on family restructuring
  • Guidelines for parental access/visitation
  • Stress reduction in children
  • Cooperative parenting

 

  Location, Registration, and Fee information:

  • Klingberg Family Centers offers PEP at our New Britain and Meriden location on Saturdays.
  • Courses are offered in person in one 6-hour session, and two 3-hour sessions.
  • The cost of the PEP course is $150 per participant.
  • Admittance to class is not permitted without payment or waiver.
  • Participants are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of class.
  • Late participants will not be admitted into the class and will need to reschedule.
