Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT) in Connecticut are coalitions of professionals involved in the investigation and treatment of physical and sexual abuse crimes against children.

Klingberg is the fiduciary agency for the Hartford MDT, MDT-14, and Central MDT.

Towns Covered:

Hartford MDT covers crimes that occur in the City of Hartford.

MDT-14 covers crimes occurring in Avon, Bloomfield, Canton, Farmington and West Hartford. 

Central MDT covers crimes occurring in Berlin, Bristol, Burlington, New Britain, Newington, Plainville, Plymouth, Rocky Hill, Southington and Wethersfield.

 What does the MDT do and why?

 The multidisciplinary approach is the national “best-practice” standard to cases in which children have been sexually or seriously physically abused.  The goal is to ensure coordinated investigations and to link children and families to necessary and expert community resources.  This coordinated effort results in a reduction of trauma to the child and an increased likelihood of successful prosecution.

 What is the Mission?

 The mission of the MDT is to enhance a timely, collaborative response to child abuse cases in order to minimize the harm to children while protecting the community from future abuse.

 Who Participates in MDT?

The following disciplines are represented at regular MDT meetings: Legal representatives and victim advocates from criminal and juvenile court, medical personnel, law enforcement, child protective service providers, child advocates and mental health professionals.

 The Hartford MDT, MDT-14, and Central MDT are involved in more than 100 cases of abuse each year with the intent to ensure optimal response and wrap-around support for child victims and their families.
