One of the many valuable services that we provide to clients and families experiencing food insecurity is our Family Pantry, located on our New Britain campus. We provide a critical food resource for children and families served by Klingberg Family Centers’ programs and services in our Hartford and New Britain locations.

Currently our Family Pantry supports active and former client families from all Klingberg programs through a referral system. Some former clients include transitional youth who have recently aged out of the Department of Children and Families foster care system and are living independently for the first time. The pantry contributes to all of our New Britain and Hartford programs, per availability of items, in addition to supporting our on-campus school, which educates approximately 100 students, throughout the school year with grocery orders for their families. Over 10,000 meals were distributed by the pantry last year.

We participate in the Retail Rescue Program where we obtain produce, bread and pastries from local grocery stores, as part of our commitment to Supporting Wellness at Pantries (SWAP) by rescuing and distributing healthy foods for our clients. We also partner with local churches and corporate donors for food donations throughout the year, especially during the holidays. Klingberg Family Pantry has expanded to become a recipient of The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). We are grateful to accept private donations of unexpired food items and household goods. Keep driving around the side of the main building, then head straight at the fork toward the playground equipment. Park in the available slots to your right. The pantry entrance is across the parking lot to the left.
