On Wednesday, March 30, Klingberg Family Centers held a special event at the Raymond Hill School to kick off the upcoming 24th Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Festival. The event was preceded by an open house featuring the current projects of the Auto Restoration Program at the Ron Poupart Garage. The vocational classrooms in the Raymond Hill School were also open throughout the event.
The evening’s program included remarks from Dr. Steven Girelli (President/CEO of Klingberg Family Centers) and Gene Cassidy (President/CEO of Eastern States Exposition, home of the Collector Car Experience); a video greeting from Wayne Carini of Chasing Classic Cars; a presentation of the new features of this year’s festival; photos of last year’s event; and recognition of sponsors who have provided extraordinary support. Attendees included current and former sponsors of the Vintage Motorcar Festival, volunteers from last year’s event, Concours car owners, and members of the business community.
A key purpose of the celebration was to thank the sponsors, car owners, volunteers, and donors who have made the Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Festival so successful throughout the past 23 years. All proceeds from the Festival go directly to Klingberg Family Centers’ programs serving children and families. Klingberg staff shared examples of how these funds have helped to change and save lives. As Wayne Carini said in his video greeting, “It’s about the cars, but it’s really about the cause.”
The following sponsors were honored at the event for their extraordinary support of children and families through sponsorship: DATTCO, Euphoria Event Solutions, Farmington Bank, Food Bag, Hartford Business Journal, Hartford Courant Media Group, Hitchcock Printing, The New Britain Herald, Newfield Construction, Northern Lights Communications, Otis Elevator Company, Siracusa Moving & Storage Co., SpaceFitters, Stanley Black & Decker, TD Bank, and Tilcon Connecticut.
Held each June on Klingberg Family Centers’ hilltop campus in New Britain, the Klingberg Vintage Motorcar Festival includes three unique auto shows in one event: a Concours d’Elegance featuring prisinte pre–World War II and Brass Era vehicles; a Concorso display of exotic supercars; and a traditional antique car show. Good food, entertainment, and children’s activities make it a fun-filled day for the whole family. For more information, visit www.KlingbergAutoShow.org.
