Klingberg Family Centers Receives $1.4M in Federal Funding

Klingberg Family Centers will receive $1,403,000 in federal funding to renovate its location on Charter Oak Avenue in Hartford, Conn. The funding was included in the more than $25M allocated through the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill jointly announced by Senator Chris Murphy and Senator Richard Blumenthal on March 23, 2024.

Klingberg Family Centers plans to use funding to restore the building which was severely damaged by flooding following a storm in August of 2021.

“We are tremendously grateful to Senator Blumenthal and Senator Murphy for supporting our request for Congressionally Directed Spending funds to support this critical renovation,” said Dr. Steven Girelli, President & CEO of Klingberg Family Centers. “Our Hartford location offers several key nationally-accredited programs and services for area residents, including an Outpatient Clinic providing clinical support to children and families, as well as our Children’s Advocacy Center, which is the hub of several multidisciplinary partnerships that provide comprehensive services for children and families impacted by abuse or exploitation. This funding will ensure that we are able to repair the building and offer all Hartford-based programs and services at full capacity.”
