Two of our own were honored as Women in Leadership at YWCA New Britain’s 17th biennial Women in Leadership Luncheon on May 11, 2017. The biennial event honors women in central Connecticut for their accomplishments, volunteerism, and commitment to the YWCA mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

Sonia Colón-Mora, Director of Intensive In-home Services at Klingberg Family Centers, was recognized for her contributions to the children and families served by Klingberg Family Centers and the staff and interns she has supervised during her 20 years working for the agency, as well as for her extensive volunteer work. Dave Tompkins, Vice President of Programs, says Sonia “has a difficult and demanding job, and yet is always willing to do extra and help others… Doing whatever it takes to help a staff member, family, community organization, or school is always at the forefront of Sonia’s busy schedule.”

Natalie Lynne Smith, Chair of Klingberg Family Centers’ Board of Trustees, has been connected with Klingberg since adopting her daughter through the agency in 2003. As a special education teacher and adoptive mom, she brings passion and insight to our Board of Trustees. Her tremendous commitment to children and her leadership attributes have a substantial and positive impact on Klingberg Family Centers and the thousands of individuals we serve each year.

Klingberg is grateful for the contributions of both of these inspiring women to our agency and the broader community, and we were delighted to see them honored at the YWCA’s Women in Leadership Luncheon.
