Petit Family Foundation Supports Klingberg Children’s Advocacy Center

NEW BRITAIN –Dr. William Petit, President of the Petit Family Foundation, presented Klingberg Family Centers with a $5,000 check to support Klingberg’s Children’s Advocacy Center (KCAC), which offers forensic interviews to help children and youth who have allegedly been victims of abuse or exploitation become survivors.

In the past the child/youth has had to answer questions and tell the same horrible facts over and over again to different professionals—teachers, DCF workers, therapists, guidance counselors, school nurses, lawyers, prosecutors, etc. The CAC model provides the resources for a one-time telling, with Forensic Interviewers who are specifically trained in conducting these interviews effectively, allowing for accurate details for all those who need them and the least trauma for the child.

The Petit Family Foundation honors the memories of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, Hayley Elizabeth Petit, and Michaela Rose Petit by continuing the kindness, idealism, and activism that defined their lives. The Foundation’s funds are given to foster and to support efforts to protect and help those affected by violence.

In remarks while presenting the grant, Dr. William Petit praised Klingberg Family Centers, saying, “The work that Klingberg does is valuable to the community, healing children and helping them towards a bright future.”
